Kohli walks up to collect the winners cheque, and then the series trophy. A resilient show by them, having gone down earlier in the series - watch Kohli's interview here. Their bowlers lasted the entire series and kept threatening throughout. Their top order handled seaming conditions better and were it not for one foolhardy session in Galle, this could have been 3-0. Thank you for your comments and your company. That is all we have for you, do stay tuned to the site for stories from Andrew Fernando and Sharda Ugra. Plus there are always a flurry of videos to follow. First up: Watch - the winning moment and the reverse-sweep that soured Kusal Perera's debut (not available in Sri Lanka and Canada, sorry). Another Mathews innings went in vain, alas! You can watch that too, right here.

"Really important after losing in the first game. It was not easy for the boys to come back like that. The good thing about us is that we are always positive and we stick to our plans and persist with them. The ball was coming nicely from my hand, and hopefully whenever I play my next game, I do the same," says Ishant Sharma

And midway through an Amit Mishra interview, Ajinkya Rahane video bombs it by lifting Mishra up off his feet to say well bowled

R Ashwin is the Man of the Series: Like to thank the boys, the catching has been brilliant and that is why I have more than 20 wickets in the series. Having been here before for the one-day tournaments, and we had a practice game as well and my takeaway was that the wickets were slow and I have to put more body in. It has been quite a while to win a Man of the Series, happy to win it. Had a few tennis elbow issues, had to change my technique a little bit. Happy to pay them back with a fifty

The winning captain Virat Kohli says, "Being 0-1 down was never easy. I was told it has never been done [away from home], created a bit of history. Even the guys who havent played, guys like Bhuvi and Varun and Bhajji, a senior, who has run around and helped everyone. Feels nice, especially with such a young team, early in our careers, it is a magnificent milestone, winning here for the first time in 22 years. injuries are always something that frustrates the team, But the attitude has been brilliant and you mentioned Pujara came in after someone was injuryed and he saw it as an opportunity and not diffuclty. That is why we are playing the kind of cricket we are playing. There are areas we want to improve on, but over the series, we can count the number of sessions we were bad on one hand. Really proud of the boys"

Angelo Mathews says, "Disappointed, especially after winning a crucial toss and them batting in demanding conditions. Our batting flopped again. The bowlers were outstanding. And then after giving them a 100-run lead, we did not bat well. We could have kept them under 300 in the first innings. The bowlers bowled pretty well, but India batted well. Our first innings batting was crucial, we needed to get close to 300. Thought if me and Kusal could have stayed there longer, it could have been different. But they bowled really well"

4.00 pm Cheteshwar Pujara is adjudged the Man of the Match for his first-innings, match-winning 145. Big smiles on his face and the teams as he walks up. "It was a very good opportunity for me, we were 1-1 and we won the series now. Facing the new ball was challenging, it was an opportunity as well. My preparation was good, and my experience in International cricket has helped"

Virat Kohli has a stump for himself and he is ebullient in asking Ishant and Pujara to lead the team off. It will please the team management, and the fans too, that India have fought well, fought hard and have found ways to win key moments. The new ball was the best weapon on this grassy SSC pitch, Cheteshwar Pujara realised that and played outstandingly well to score a century on comeback and Ishant Sharma, with the same knowledge, ensured the Sri Lanka top order did not have such heroes. Eight wickets in the match for him, and the 5 for 54 he took in the first innings was the best by an India seamer in Sri Lanka. Not to mention his taking 200 Test wickets as well

Angelo Mathews was so dogged with the bat. Played only riskfree shots, found most of his runs from the leg side which meant he was trying to play as close to the body as he could. Another fourth-inning century for him, but it could not fetch the result he wanted. The blame will be put on their top order, which lacked substance the first time they had to front up without Kumar Sangakkara. Stay tuned for the presentation

Santosh Singh: "Ultimately the first innings lead of 112 proved to be the difference between winning and loosing team . Lankan second innings score 268 was not far from Indian second innings score 274"

anchal: "Grass on the pitch...good bowling conditions for Seamers...still a offie top scored for India with 4 wickets in this inning... #RAshwin"

Jaykumar Bhanda: "Ishant has his 200th, but Ashwin already has 145 to his name in just 28 matches. The fastest to this feat is 36, so he has to take 55 in the next 14 innings. Seems possible. :)"

Paras: "Kudos to the SL curators in this series - swing, seam, turn and bounce - everything was on display!" --- Sharda paints a striking picture about that. She says it seemed as if the spirit of all the fast bowlers who had toiled on the previous road-like surfaces had said enough was enough and taken this pitch and made it do their bidding

W
Mishra to Pradeep, OUT, that is it. India have an overseas series win after West Indies 2011, first series win in Sri Lanka in 22 years. And only the third time India have come back from 0-1 down in Test history! Also Virat Kohlis first series win as captain. The googly finishes it off, with Kaushal playing from the crease and playing down the wrong line. Hit in front and then celebrations all around
