Scorer: Thilak Ram | Commentator: Abhimanyu Bose

11.25pm Right then, Mumbai Indians came to a ground they struggle in while in the midst of a slump, but have pulled off a victory in some style. Tilak Varma of course at the heart of it, after Kagiso Rabada made it look like MI's troubles would continue. GT now are left with questions about how to respond when their top three don't fire. For today, that's all the action from the Motera. On behalf of Abhijato, our own Thilak and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo, it's Abhimanyu signing off.

11.17pm PResentation ceremony time

Tilak Varma: "Of course, first 100 will be always special. It was very important for us. We don't have much time from here. Every game is important for us. Last five games i haven't had much time in the middle. So this game I wanted to spend time in the middle. So you saw first 20 balls I was just batting ball by ball. And then later on I knew the ability I have. I was just seeing the situation and what the team needs and I was just stable and keeping my head still and following my basics. I have all the fancy shots. But when the team is under pressure it's just about backing your skills and today it's given me good results. [Partnership with Dhir] It was very important. The way Naman played with positive intent, credit goes to him."

Hardik Pandya: "It's always challenging to go away and win but at the same time of time Ahmedabad has been a tough place for Mumbai Indians. We played some good cricket. Feels very special because it was much needed. [On the second timeout] The message I think, I realised that the kind of talent Tilak has, he really doesn't have to worry. So my message to him was just watch the ball and hit the ball. Was about time he came out and delivered. It was much needed for Tilak, the group and Mumbai Indians. [Bumrah wicket] It's quite fascinating. I see a lot of people asking why Jassi isn't bowled up front but he's only bowled 7-8 times the first over. So it's not a Hardik Pandya problem, it's an everybody proble, because Bumrah is so special you want to use him later on. [On youngsters doing well] Really amazing. Ashwani did the same last year. Amazing from the youngsters. Fielding had to click. Special mention to Naman as well. [Is this that game?] Yes."

Ashish: "Such a good looking score. 100 for 10. All binary."

As we wait for the presentation ceremony, Sampath has some stats for you. Tilak Varma is the first MI batter to outscore opposition in IPL. Lendl Simmons missed out in 2017, when he scored 66 and DD made 66 in reply.

Tilak also first player to outscore opposition in the IPL since KL Rahul vs RCB in 2020 - 132* vs 109.

Ashwani Kumar: "When we went on the ground I saw length balls would work best so just went for those. I planned with Hardik bhaiiya and bowled as per what the situation demanded. I had been thinking for a while that whenever I get a game, I'll do well. It happened like that last year as well."

Shubman Gill: "Honestly, I think we gave away too many runs in the middle overs. On a wicket like that, 160-170 was a par score. Small hiccup but now we have a couple of games on the road so hopefully we'll come back in winning form. I think the wicket was on the slower side. I don't think we hit the right areas. Length balls, some were coming on nicely some weren't. We weren't able to hit that length more consistently. I think batting could have been better because there was dew."

11.05 Well, what a win that is for Mumbai Indians. If they were struggling for answers and struggling for confidence earlier, today solves a lot of their problems. Tilak Varma went through a period of immense struggle but then it brought out the very best of him as he hammered his maiden century. He made 19 off his first 22 balls, and then hit 82 off the next 23. Then, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Ashwani Kumar removed GT's vaunted top three in the powerplay, and after that, it was easy pickings with the hosts offering little resistance.

Ghazanfar to Mohammed Siraj, OUT, Rapped on the pads and up goes the finger! Siraj sends this up. Looked plumb to me as Siraj missed a slog. No bat on that by a mile. And that's crashing into middle and leg, so Mumbai Indians end their losing streak with a 99-run win, the biggest this season by runs. Mumbai Indians are off the bottom of the table, thanks to Tilak Varma's stunning come-from-behind century and a commanding bowling display.

Ghazanfar to Rabada, OUT, Easy does it. Rabada dances down the track and has a huge hoick. The carrom ball spins in too much and it's an easy stumping for de Kock, who gets some semblance of revenge on Rabada for dismissing him in the first innings
