11:44pm That will be that for tonight. Tilak the star as MI ice another 200-plus run-chase, and leave PBKS in must-win territory. One of the beneficiaries of this result aka CSK, will be in action tomorrow against LSG. Do join us for that game too but until then, from all of us here at ESPNcricinfo, it is goodbye!
Tilak Varma, Player of the Match: I always say I love finishing games. Playing World Cups, playing international games, it helps, you get experience and confidence. We did not expect a wicket like this - it was slow and low. We saw how Punjab struggled in first 15 overs. We thought to take the game deep, and I was believing in myself, was holding my shape and backing myself (and my game). (On the 16th over bowled by Chahal) When we had second time-out, I was talking to coach that just one big over, we will finish off the game, and to believe in me. Was just waiting for that one big over. Glad I could finish the game. (Chats with Jacks) His innings really helped. I just said to hold the shape and to wait for the slower ones. That is the only ball we were struggling to hit sixes. He held shape, got sixes and they were under pressure.
Jasprit Bumrah, MI captain: One from one - good game of cricket. Both teams played some good cricket. We really pulled back well after a good start (for Punjab). Bowling in the end has become more difficult now (smiles). The wicket in this game looked a little drier. Previous game had a bit more pace, and ball was holding up and keeping low (when we were bowling). We were pretty clear in what we wanted to do (at the toss). Holding your length was the key. If you bowl too short or too full, at the altitude, the ball flies. Credit to the bowlers - they executed and held their nerve as well. (Turning point) Tilak's knock and Shardul's bowling. The way Tilak held his nerve, he kept his shape, kept his belief and Jacksy as well (for his contribution at the end). Really happy everyone contributed. (Experience as skipper) I have captained a Test match, a T20I and now only thing left is an ODI (laughs). But jokes apart, really enjoyed my time.
Shreyas Iyer, PBKS captain: Tough pill to swallow. Don't want to pinpoint a situation. It was a great game of cricket. He (Tilak) played an amazing knock, and manoeuvred the field nicely - so credit to him. (On Omarzai) At a point, we were looking at 170-180, and he simply changed the momentum towards us. Getting to 200 was a commendable performance. (On their next game) Definitely excited about the next opportunity. An afternoon game and we need to win two out of two - can't wait to play (those matches).
Will Jacks: These games, still so much to play for, and good to get the win. (Chat with Tilak) Kind of focussing on what they were trying to do. One big boundary, so we knew they were trying to defend that. Not sure about pace-off but when we were bowling, cross-seam and back of a length, some were skidding through. Enjoy these games, something in it for the bowlers. Difficult to bowl (because there are so many options). Every day is different. You cannot chase it - you do as you are told.
11:21pm Wow. What a game. And what a run-chase. MI, at one point, seemed out of it, especially when Rohit fell, and when Rutherford was struggling. But with the chips down, Tilak stood up. Yet again. A 33-ball 75, which included several jaw-dropping shots took MI past the finish line, and take nothing away from Jacks either, who popped up with 25 off 10, which included a six in the final over.
PBKS will feel they have missed another opportunity. They had tightened the screws through the middle but their decision to hold an over of Chahal back did not pay off. MI ransacked 20 off the 16th, with 22 also coming off the 18th, and those two overs ultimately ended up costing the Kings.
2 off 2
8 off 3. How are the nerves now?
8 off 4
Asahel: "The irony of cricket is all 3 balls between 18.2 to 18.4 were low fullies that yielded just 3 - and the perfect yorker at 18.5 goes for 4"
9 off 5. Bartlett needs to find the yorker
Shyam Prasad : "Super over?"
15 off 6. Bartlett to bowl. Jacks on strike. Advantage MI? Or will runs on the board do the trick for PBKS? First couple of balls could be crucial here.
The BCCI, the IPL and the teams are supposed to check this and make the sport a more inclusive space
There were no major changes at the top of the Orange and Purple Cap tables at the end of PBKS vs MI. Here's how things stand
"He is training in Mumbai now and I expect him to be back in Kolkata and play [against KKR next Wednesday]," says Shardul Thakur after Hardik Pandya missed his third game in a row
PBKs have "lost their way with the bat," says Mitchell McClenaghan, while Abhinav Mukund feels holding back Yuzvendra Chahal's final over "cost them the game"
On a tricky pitch, MI needed 80 off the final six overs but Tilak lined up the slower balls and finished it off in style
