Scorer: Ranjith P | Commentator: Abhimanyu Bose
7.45pm Right, then, RCB have secured a playoffs spot with a game to go. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, have to go win in Lucknow and also pray that other results fall their way. The business end of the IPL is well and truly here, with just nine league games remaining. That's all from here, although there's more IPL action in store for you with Rajasthan Royals taking on Delhi Capitals. On behalf of Abhijato, Ranjith and Chandan, this is Abhimanyu signing off.
7.35pm Time for the presentation ceremony.
The player of the match is Venkatesh Iyer: "Technically, it's my second game. Today is the first time I got to properly bat. That was the pleasing thing and getting two points of course. [Being in RCB] They welcomed me very well. Obviously it's a very professional setup. Credit to Mo (Bobat), Andy (Flower) and DK (Dinesh Karthik). The brand of cricket that RCB plays is something that excites me a lot. Obviously I played for KKR so there is an emotional bond but I really feel at home here. I'll be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated because I wanted to play. But I do understand that this is a champion team and to tinker with the combination isn't always right. But I always made an impression on the coaching staff that I want to play and will make an impact and am happy for the opportunity. It was scratchy at the start but I was lucky to be batting with Virat Kohli. The mindset shift that he's able to communicate with you. All the legends of the game, one good thing is they know how to communicate. I played after a long time and needed a few balls to get into the groove. Once I understood the wicket and had the freedom to go after the bowling, it was good for me.
Jitesh Sharma: "I think we were in control, with the batting and bowling. [On the total] We were not under pressure. We were in control. We knew what to do and batters gave good feedback on what's working on the wicket. We planned for each batsman and executed those plans. [On Bhuvi and Hazlewood] We are priveleged to have them at RCB and I have experienced guys who help me as a captain. Our motto is simple: one game at a time. We just want to do well in every match."
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: "[On practicing the yorker] I think it's not about doing it before the match but what i do throughout the year is what makes the difference. When you bowl to world-class opponents and get it right, it gives you confidence. [On bowling with Hazlewood] It makes a big difference, the experience and skill he has. I think we are complementing each other. But credit to Rasikh as well, he is going under the radar but he's doing well. [On qualifying] Feels great. First aim is to qualify for the playoffs. If you can get top two then it's great. You can see it means a lot to us, we've been working very hard for the last two months."
Shreyas Iyer: "Obviously they got off to a great start and them taking on the bowlers right after the powerplay. Getting to 222 is a commendable performance. I think the match was lost in the powerplay. We were three down in the powerplay and a majority of our run scorers were out early. Really disappointed but commendable performances with Shashank and Stoinis and a few others. We were up there with the 10-runs an over mark but amazing bowling by Hazlewood and Bhuvi. I am always positive irrespective of the results. I always approach with a strong attitude and I am not someone who doesn't dwell too much on the past. This is over, this is the past and I always look towards the light at the end of the tunnel."
Karthik: "Thanks RCB, from a CSK fan"
7.21pm RCB, like they have done on so many occasions this season, bring out an all-round A-Game and register a comprehensive victory in Dharamsala. Handshakes and high-fives all around for them, while the mood is more grim in the Punjab Kings camp. With Rajat Patidar out with concussion, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and Venkatesh Iyer played sumptuous innings before Bhuvneshwar Kumar set up the win with another excellent new-ball display. Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh threatened a comeback, but with Bhuvneshwar and Josh Hazlewood showing off their death-overs expertise as well, it ended up in a comfortable win for the reigning champions.
