Match abandoned Islamabad United vs Peshawar Zalmi
Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi will share the points after the game between the sides was abandoned due to a wet outfield at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The washout gives Islamabad their first point of the season, with Zalmi moving up to second in the table with three points in two games.
In the hour before the toss, a violent thunderstorm lashed Lahore, with heavy rain, strong winds and hailstones in parts of the city. It lasted for about an hour, and quickly resulted in large puddles being formed in various parts of the ground. While the main square was covered, the rest of the outfield was exposed to the downpour.
The rain eased and eventually stopped around the time the game was due to start, but the ground had been left waterlogged enough to make the possibility of a game exceedingly unlikely. However, the groundstaff kept trying to dry the field until the final half hour before the cut-off time. At 9.20pm local time, the PCB sent through an official update that suggested the five-over game could be on, with the covers removed and the outfield sufficiently dried.
The damage, however, was done. Moments later, it was announced the game would be abandoned, resulting in this season's first washout.
