Arjun Atwal made a blistering start to his final round at the PGA Tour St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tennessee, before an error-ridden back nine led him to score 2-over 72, thus finishing with 3-over 283.
Daniel Berger of USA picked up the title with 13-under 267 after a brief interruption due to inclement weather, and Atwal had to be content with a tied-52nd finish.
Atwal began with three successive birdies -- it was the third day in a row when he birdied the 554-yard par-five 3rd - and then sank another birdie on the par-four 5th, to bring his total score to 3-under at one stage.
It was at the 465-yard par-four 10th that he faltered first, despite starting with a 289-yard drive into the right fairway. He would eventually take six shots to complete the hole; his second double bogey of the day came in the 530-yard par-five 16th.
Atwal wrapped up his maiden outing on the PGA Tour for 2016 with two bogeys on the last holes, including one caused due to a water penalty on the 453-yard par-four 18th.
