The Tampa Bay Rays are spreadin' the news.
On Wednesday night, the Rays completed a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees, winning a 4-3 nail-biter. Victor Mesa Jr.'s two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning put Tampa Bay ahead for good, while Anthony Volpe's potential game-tying homer in the bottom of that inning was overturned due to a fan interfering with the ball -- a different outcome than what happened with Jeffrey Maier during the 1996 American League Championship Series between the Yankees and Baltimore Orioles.
After the game, the Rays celebrated hard in the visitors clubhouse at Yankee Stadium -- and whoever was in charge of the music added a little salt to the home team's wounds.

That's Frank Sinatra's version of "(Theme From) New York, New York," which the Yankees play to celebrate a win at home. For one night, at least, it heralded something far different. The Rays will look to carry their momentum forward in the ALCS against either the Cleveland Guardians or Chicago White Sox.
