Josh Addo-Carr's immediate playing future is in the hands of the Parramatta hierarchy after police advised the winger his second result from a roadside drugs test had come back negative.
Addo-Carr met Eels officials at a board meeting on Monday afternoon to respond to a breach notice after it was widely presumed the former Test and State of Origin star would be sacked.
The Eels released a statement afterwards.
"Josh and his legal team were given the opportunity to respond to the notice," the Eels said.
"The club will consider their submission and make a decision in due course."
The 31-year-old allegedly tested positive to cocaine at a random roadside test in September.
But police have confirmed to AAP that no further action will be taken, leaving Addo-Carr to potentially earn a stay of execution.
"About 11.10pm on Friday (11 September 2026), officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command were patrolling Enmore Road, Newtown, when they stopped the driver of a vehicle for random testing," a NSW Police spokeswoman said on Monday.
"The driver -- a 31-year-old man -- was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.
"The driver underwent a preliminary drug wipe, which allegedly returned a positive indication for cocaine.
"An oral fluid sample was obtained and sent away for forensic testing. Following the testing the result has returned a negative result.
"No further police action is expected."
Addo-Carr was sacked by Canterbury almost two years ago to the day for also testing positive to cocaine.
"I can confirm that Josh Addo-Carr and my office have been contacted by NSW Police," his lawyer Elias Tabchouri told the Nine Network on Monday.
"The police have confirmed the drug test carried out on Josh on September 11, 2026 has returned a result of nil drugs detected.
"Josh has always maintained -- and still maintains -- a commitment to the Parramatta club."
