Wendell Sailor will miss Queensland's trial match against the Canterbury Crusaders in Greymouth with a hamstring injury.
Sailor suffered the injury in the closing stages of Australia's Brisbane World Sevens win at Ballymore, and has been ruled out of Friday's match along with prop Fletcher Dyson who suffered a knock to the head at training yesterday.
While Sailor is rated 95 per cent fit by Reds physiotherapist Chris Mallac, he said that the risk of aggravating the injury and facing four to six weeks on the sideline was the reason for the cautious approach.
"Three hours on a plane to New Zealand is going to make him a little tight, so it's not worth taking a chance at this stage of the season," he said.
Sailor is still expected to play in Queensland's trial against the Auckland Blues next Wednesday.
"I'm shattered because the more games I play the more improvement there is going to be," said Sailor, who is in a four-way battle for two Super 12 wing spots.
Former Australian under 21 fullback Michael Tabrett replaces Sailor while Glenn Panoho will travel to Greymouth in place of Fletcher Dyson.
