Russia have claimed the inaugural Super Powers Cup with a 30-21 over an understrength USA side in Krasnoyarsk.
Flyhalf Konstantin Rachkov was the star of the show grabbing 25 points for the home side against a depleted Eagles team with coach Tom Billups chosing to rest his star players.
Rachov and his USA counterpart Matt Sherman traded penalties throughout the half with the Russians building a 9-6 lead before the Eagles crossed for the first try when center Salesi Sika went over.
Rachkov responded with another penalty to send the USa into the break 13-12 to the good.
The Russians stepped up the pace after the break with Rachkov adding another penalty and a try to his personal tally before slotting over the conversion.
Yet another penalty from the Russian flyhalf extended their advantage before Sherman pulled three points back with their first score of the second half.
Russia's Anrei Kuzin notched another try in injury time that was matched by another by their visitors but it was all too late.
