Dolphins DE Chop Robinson clears concussion protocol

Dolphins defensive end Chop Robinson has cleared concussion protocol, he told reporters Thursday, after missing Miami's loss last week to the San Francisco 49ers.

Robinson said he suffered a concussion during practice last week during a routine "football hit." He missed practice last Thursday and Friday and was ultimately held out of Sunday's game.

The former first-round pick logged two full practices this week, clearing the way for his return in Miami's game this week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Robinson confirmed it was the fifth concussion of his career dating back to his time at Penn State; he missed two games last season with a pair of concussions.

"I'm starting to wear the Guardian Cap, just being smart about it, he said. "I want a future and to have kids and a family. With the Guardian Cap -- there's no harm in wearing it, so I might as well put it on."

Robinson registered six sacks as a rookie in 2024, but that number dipped to four in 2025. He was one of the team's standout performers during training camp and is expected to lead a thin group of Dolphins pass rushers.

Miami's pass rush has struggled to get going through two games. The Dolphin's rank 26th in pass rush win rate, last in pressures and are the only team in the NFL that is yet to record a sack.

Coach Jeff Hafley said he can't allow himself to get frustrated by the unit's performance; he just needs to solve it.

"I need to figure out something different to do," Hafley said Wednesday. "Maybe with different players in certain spots, maybe adding a tweak or two to scheme, maybe totally changing the scheme in order to generate pressure. That's the job of a coach and that's my job to do and that's my job to figure out. I don't have time to get frustrated.

"I understand what's ahead of me. I understand the process that we're in right now. So I need to make sure that I'm not getting frustrated. That I have a mindset where I'm going to do everything in my power to get better every single day and help these guys generate pressure and help us generate pressure."
