PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has been ruled out for Sunday's home game against the Carolina Panthers with a hamstring injury, but it appears receiver DeVonta Smith will make his return to the lineup.

Smith does not carry an injury designation after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury.

"I'm good," Smith said when asked about the injury after practice Friday, adding that whether he plays is "up to the doctors."

With Barkley, Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby all ruled out, Dameon Pierce is in line to get the bulk of the carries out of the backfield.

Barkley exited early in the first quarter of the Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams and has been sidelined since. Shipley was placed on injured reserve Friday with a foot injury, joining Bigsby (abdomen).

Tanner McKee, meanwhile, is slated to start in place of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was ruled out Thursday due to a superficial blood clot in his calf.

Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard said he plans to test his ankle pregame, as he did in London before being ruled out against the Jaguars, though he carries no designation. Fellow edge rushers Jalyx Hunt (knee/ankle) and AJ Epenesa (back) and safety Michael Carter (abdomen) have been ruled out.

Linemen Landon Dickerson and Drew Kendall are questionable with knee injuries.
